A driver was busted by the 100 Mile House RCMP for a slew of violations after speeding 169km/h in a posted 100km/h zone, noted a news release compiled by Sgt. Brian Lamb.
The incident occurred on June 30, while B.C. Highway Patrol was conducting patrols on Highway 97 near Knife Creek Road. Lamb said officers observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed, which, according to radar, was 169km/h in a posted 100km/h zone. RCMP attempted to close the distance on the vehicle to stop it, but the vehicle refused to stop.
General duty members then located the vehicle near 108 Mile Ranch, still exceeding the speed limit and stopped the vehicle. The driver, who was identified as a new driver, was issued violation tickets for excessive speed over 60km/h, speeding against a highway sign, failing to display an N sign, and failing to stop for police. The vehicle was impounded for seven days.
This incident was one of 138 calls for service 100 Mile House RCMP responded to between June 24 and Jul. 1.
