October 6, 1944 - April 19, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Milica Epp, beloved wife, mother and grandmother on April 19, 2025.
Milica was born on October 6, 1944 in Nanaimo, BC and was the second oldest of five siblings. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Dan, her children DJ (Rhonda) and Roxanna (Ray) and her grandchildren Alexander, Rain, Artemis, and Katherine Epp and Jade (Jesse) Martyshuk. She also leaves behind her two sisters, Violet and Carol and her brother Robert (Tanis). As well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.
Milica moved to Bella Coola in 1964 to pursue a career in teaching. She dedicated thirty five years to her profession, most of which was spent in the Bella Coola Valley. She was a respected teacher/administrator and over the course of her teaching career Milica had the good fortune to teach two generations of students.
Milica enjoyed living in Bella Coola and she was a very active member of the community. She liked to bowl, often throwing the ball half way down the lane before it landed. She worked tirelessly on the Fall Fair board for many years, helping with the judging, manning the door at the dances and who could forget Milica yelling out the bingo numbers when the machine failed! Milica canvassed for cancer research from one end of the valley to the other. As well as being involved with Augsborg Church ladies auxiliary where she supported their auctions for years.
Mom had a flair for fashion and you would never see her in a pair of jeans. She was a beautiful woman, inside and out with a ready and contagious laugh. Mom was a very generous person and always showed empathy for others.
Mom loved the valley and only moved back to Nanaimo, with Dad, when their health began to fail in 2021.
Mom passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in her sleep. Gone to be with her family and friends who left before her.
There will be a celebration of life in Nanaimo on June 7th and one in Bella Coola at a later date.
