Become inspired by the watery themes in “Sea Level” , a solo exhibition by local artist Faye Hoffman at the Grove Art Gallery in Port Alberni.
Inspired by the local scenic waterways that are full of colour and lively shapes, "Sea Level” features a variety of unique and gorgeous pottery with an iconic grassy green glaze, as well as soft watery pieces featuring scenery from Harbour Quay. This exhibit will be in the gallery starting July 15 and will run until Aug. 9.
Come meet the talented artist herself for the official opening reception on Thursday, July 17, from 6-8 p.m. at the Grove Art Gallery at the Harbour Quay.
In case you can’t make it Thursday night, there will be a meet and greet on the following Saturday, July 19, from 1-3 p.m. Come and support the local arts scene and engage with the artist. Light refreshments will be served.
Wednesdays are for cacti
Join artist and Grove Gallery gift shop co-ordinator Adrianna for a vibrant evening of painting cacti, succulents and desert-inspired scenes in watercolours. Whether you follow along with Adrianna’s tips or take a more freestyle approach, the relaxed, social setting makes it perfect for all skill levels.
To register, go to our website at alberniarts.com/events, or feel free to drop in. This class costs $20 per participant and runs from 5-7 p.m. at the Grove.
Time for Sparkling High Tea
Attend our sparkling high tea, located in the rugged and historic McLean Mill, for an elegant afternoon escape. The first sparkling high tea of the season will take place on Sunday, July 20, from 1-3 p.m., featuring live music from the impressive and popular Folk Song Circle and live painting from local talent, Guy Langlois.
Our sparkling high teas are a fancier affair. These teas include three courses, a snack, savoury, then sweet, as well as a glass of local sparkling wine all put together by V9Y Catering. There will be creative projects including colouring sheets, and small, easy to take home craft projects, delivered to each table. Feel free to take part or just sip and relax.
Each ticket sold supports the Alberni arts council, a registered charity, with our future projects, programming, and events that help make Port Alberni a better and creative place. Purchase tickets at alberniarts.com/teas-at-the-mill.
