The new multi-use games area at Ravens Ridge Park is now open for play.

The reopening of an upgraded Sooke park is bringing expanded recreational opportunities to the community just in time for summer.

Ravens Ridge Park is welcoming visitors back following the completion of several key enhancements. While work is still wrapping up, the District of Sooke has announced a soft opening of the park and invites residents to enjoy the upgraded amenities now available.

“At Ravens Ridge, we’re opening the door to more opportunities for community connection, healthy activity, and inclusive recreation,” said Mayor Maja Tait. “This soft opening allows us to share the progress we’ve made, while continuing to fine‑tune the space for everyone’s enjoyment.”

At the heart of the upgrades to the Phillips Road park is the new multi-use games area – a hardcourt space designed for versatile play. The court surface is ready for use, and visitors can access the area through the net opening while gate installation and court line painting (including centre circle and basketball key) are finalized.

The games area will be open daily, dawn to dusk. Motorized vehicles, scooters, or equipment are not allowed in the area, and pickleball is allowed by permit only for special events.

Other improvements include FireSmart landscaping, reducing wildfire risk and enhancing resilience; upgraded parking, with new bike racks and accessible stalls; and the addition of bleachers and scoreboard.

The district says the enhancements represent its ongoing commitment to safety, accessibility, and a sense of place.

A community celebration will be held later this summer to officially mark the grand reopening – watch for details as the finishing touches are applied.
