The Kootenay Gallery of Art is making plans to celebrate 50 Years with a special event entitled 50 Shades of Art.
The event will feature a full day of art, music, and community spirit on Saturday, Sept.13, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the grounds of the Kootenay Gallery at 120 Heritage Way, across from the Castlegar Airport.
The gallery says this vibrant celebration invites art lovers of all ages to come together in honour of five decades of artistic inspiration and cultural impact in the West Kootenay region. It is free and open to the public.
Highlights include live entertainment featuring a dynamic lineup of local musicians and performers and an outdoor artisan market showcasing the talent and creativity of regional makers.
Dueling Easels, where artists go brush-to-brush in fast-paced painting showdowns, promises to be an exciting addition.
“We’re excited to open our galleries and outdoor space to the entire community to celebrate this important chapter in our history,” says the gallery's executive director Joleen Kinakin.
“It’s a chance to honour the artists, supporters, and visitors who have made the gallery a cornerstone of the local arts scene for 50 years.”
