Do you have art you think can be on display and represent Lake Country?
Now is your chance as the District of Lake Country is launching a vibrant street banner program to highlight local art in the town centre.
The district is looking for art in five different forms: photography, digital art, collage, painting and illustration, and printmaking. Artwork selected will be paired with colour-coordinated wordmark banners and displayed on street poles in the town centre area.
"This initiative is all about celebrating local talent and creating a sense of pride and identity through public art," said Chair of the Lake Country Public Art Advisory Commission Janice Larson. "We're excited to see the creativity that emerges and how artists interpret the spirit of our community."
Those interested have until June 30 at 12 p.m. to submit their artwork (up to five entries). A panel of 20 people will view and select the art for display. Chosen artists will receive a $300 honorarium, and their artwork will be showcased on banners for about three to four years.
Entries are to be submitted on the District of Lake Country's website.
