The fifth annual Puts for Paws took place at Black Mountain Golf Course on June 21, to help raise funds for the Okanagan Humane Society.

The tournament was presented by Darcy Feth of IG Wealth Management and had just over 100 golfers in attendance.

All of the money raised will go directly to animals in need across the Okanagan, from Osoyoos up into Salmon Arm.

According to OHS president Romany Runnalls, the money particularly helps with the spay and neuter program as well as emergency medical.

“We are halfway through the year and we are on par to help more animals than we did last year. And, last year was absolutely record-breaking, we helped over 4,200 animals last year,” explained Runnalls.

All those involved in the tournament considered themselves animal lovers and were motivated to ‘putt for paws’ and raise some funds.

Last year, the tournament raised more than $28,000 for OHS. With the average cost to care for one animal at $350, the event raised enough money to support more than 80 local animals.
