Concorde Masonic Lodge No. 79 has made a $5,000 donation to the Kwalikum Secondary School's music program.
Worshipful Master James Matthews presented a cheque to KSS music teacher KSS Dan Craven at the lodge's building in Parksville on Saturday, Feb. 15.
Matthews, a KSS alumnus, said he was thrilled to donate the money to the school.
"It's going to go a long way for students travelling and for instruments, that kind of thing," said Matthews, who is grateful to the KSS music program which inspired and helped him to graduate.
"I wasn't strong as strong academically but music, it helped me get through it. If I had the chance to give back, that's what I am going to do it for. No questions asked."
The Lodge has been active in the PQB community since 1915 and involved in various charitable activities in region and on Vancouver Island including providing bursaries to local high school students in need of funding to attend post-secondary education.
