Peoples' superior rectus muscles received a workout Sunday as their eyes rolled from the ground to the sky and back again during the Shuswap Emergency Expo at the airport in Salmon Arm.
While there was some aeronautical action overhead, including skydiving and a flyover by the Vernon Snowflakes RV Formation Flying Team, much of the June 25 event at the Shuswap Regional Airport was focused on the ground , with displays by numerous groups – primarily first responders, the return of the firefighter games that had teams from local fire departments compete against each other, the 222 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron with their flight simulator, a vintage car show and shine and plenty of aircraft to check out.
Coordinated by the Salmon Arm Flying Club and the Shuswap Emergency Program, The popular bi-annual event got off the ground as Airport Appreciation Day, giving people an opportunity to learn more about the local asset that is the Shuswap Regional Airport.
