Pizza Pizza everywhere at the Nanoose Bay Fire Station on Monday, May 5, to say 'thank you' to all the firefighters and Nanoose Place volunteers whose participation made the first annual Firefighters-Nanoose Place Car Wash (held April 12) a great success, raising more than $6,000 towards the $25,000 goal for the George Holme Legacy Fund.
With these new car wash funds, a total of more than $18,000 has been raised so far for Nanoose Place's legacy fund, which honours the man who was a founding member of Nanoose Bay Lions Club which built Nanoose Place Community Centre, the first Nanoose Bay Volunteer Fire Department Chief and the RDN representative for Nanoose Bay for nearly 30 years.
The pizza and pop evening 'thank you' celebration held at the Nanoose Bay Fire Station was made possible by the generous discounts and food donations of Pizza Pizza in Parksville and soft drinks from Quality Foods in Nanoose Bay, adding flavour to the evening event's success.
The joint Firefighters-Nanoose Place car wash event is to be held annually in mid-late April with possibly another in late summer as conditions allow, according to spokesperson Trish Widdershoven.
