A day of celebration, achievement and excitement, awaits this year's Camosun College graduates.
Across six convocation ceremonies, over three days – June 17 to 19 – over 1,200 graduates are expected to cross the stage.
The theme for this year's convocation is “Your path to success.” It's a reminder that each grad who comes to Camosun to learn experiences their own unique journey, and that success looks different for everyone.
“Convocation is a time of celebration as we honour the outstanding accomplishments of every graduate,” said Dr. Lane Trotter, college president, in a news release, offering his congratulations.
“It’s important to acknowledge the faculty and support staff who supported graduates through to the finish line as well as the friends, family and champions of each student.”
In total, more than 2,000 students will be graduating from Camosun this year, each of them joining over 70,000 alumni living and working on Vancouver Island and beyond.
“As we celebrate our achievements, we also recognize the responsibility that comes with our education,” said Terence Baluyut, Camosun College Student Society external executive. “It’s our duty to make a positive impact in the world, whether through further education, joining the workforce or contributing to our communities.”
The ceremonies will be held at the Pacific Institute for Sport Education gym at the Interurban campus, including the presentation of the Governor General’s Collegiate Bronze Medal Awards to three Camosun College students.
Kaydence Kauffman, Keely Hamilton and Aaron Huinink will be recognized for their exceptional academic accomplishments in earning the highest overall grade point average (GPA) from a diploma-level post-secondary college program.
