The horses are running again on the grounds of the Tarrys Community Hall.

West Kootenay based mural artist Tyler Toews was the successful applicant for the project that aimed to bring the historic stable wall at the hall back to life. People driving on Highway 3A towards Nelson cannot help but notice his eye-popping mural.

The Tarrys Community Hall Society Board of Directors is extremely pleased with Toews' work.

"The mural has not only injected life into the stable wall but into the lives of Tarrys/Thrums/Glade Central residents who turned out for a recent open house to discuss how the hall could become the heart of their community," says the board's secretary, Eileen Kooznetsoff.

The society hopes to illuminate the mural so that it could be viewed and enjoyed by more people.

“I am very proud of this Tarrys Community Hall Society Board initiative and pleased that I was able to assist in funding their initiative through diverse Area I grant streams,” said RDCK Area I Director Andy Davidoff.

The society says they hope Spirit Horses lifts everyone’s spirits, puts a smile on their faces and reignites fond memories of days gone by.
