Asked why she was taking part in the third annual Walk With Your Doc at Vernon's Polson Park, local nurse practitioner Dawn Ansdell replied with a one-word answer:
"Tasha," said Ansdell, who ended up walking the event with a reporter. "Tasha asked and I answered the call. This, 100 per cent, walking, is something we have to do everyday. We don't move our bodies enough."
Tasha would be Tasha Gagner of Doctors of BC who spearheaded the event Thursday, May 15, that drew close to 40 walkers for a jaunt through Polson Park's oval, down to the walkway and its end, then back to the oval.
"This is a great opportunity to take a mid-day break, soak up some sunshine, and connect with fellow providers and the community," said event co-organizer Amanda Pinsonneault, clinic manager of Vernon Active Health.
The free community event is sponsored by Doctors of BC in partnership with the Physiotherapy Association of British Columbia.
The casual, social walk brings together health care professionals and community members to celebrate and promote the overall importance of daily physical activity.
