Alt-Pop Mohawk Artist Semiah announces a mini tour of B.C. in celebration of her new EP and Indigenous Heritage Month. She will be performing at the Abbey Studio in Cumberland on June 7.

Semiah is a next generation Mohawk Alt Pop musician, multimedia artist and producer who writes infectious songs about love, fear, resilience, and recklessness. Her quirky conversational lyrics marry with iconic melodies, pop aesthetics, electro punk grooves and ambient foley sonic architecture that sparkles like a celestial firestorm.

Hailing from Six Nations and based in Toronto, Semiah’s family motto “don’t half ass it” sets a high bar: her mother, Santee Smith, is a 2023 Order of Canada recipient and award-winning choreographer; her father, George Leach, won a 2014 Aboriginal Music Juno Award; and her uncle, Jay Silverheels, was the iconic Tonto in The Lone Ranger TV series. With roots in Lillooet B.C. and currently based in Toronto, Semiah was named “artist to watch” by She Bops Zine (USA), Semiah performs infectious songs like a playful cowgirl storyteller with a spiritual depth that belies her age.

Whether it's alt pop grooves, smooth R’n’B or heartfelt ballads with rootsy twang, Semiah sings in a distinct emotive style that integrates Haudenosaunee (People of the Longhouse) techniques. Her debut single 'Nothing Can Kill My Love For You' was followed by sophomore single and debut EP that continue to be featured on CBC radio. 2024 'Withdrawals' video was showcased at Finland’s Skábmagovat Film Festival 2025. Sophomore EP LVR GRL drops summer 2025.
