Nanoose Bay artist Bronwyn Claire Asha Churcher recently released a new single and is working on a new EP.

Nanoose Bay singer Bronwyn Claire Asha Churcher's latest single is inspired by environmental anxiety and the fight against apathy.

'Off-Kilter' is a pop song that blends vocals, strings and piano. It's a bit of a change for Churcher, who has become known for her folk music concerts.

The single deals with the feeling of a back and forth between giving in to apathy and resolving to do something, she said.

“That’s sort of a line we are all constantly navigating," said Churcher, who added she wrote the song two years ago, but recorded it in 2025. “There’s even more instability in the world and it felt timely and important to release it.”

She is working on getting her name out there as a pop artist, as well as a traditional Celtic folk singer. Churcher wants to write some more songs, release a few more singles and then put together an EP.

“The momentum of releasing a song often gives you the propulsion to like write more songs and get them down and record them,” she added. “With original music, you almost feel like you’re catching the song on the wind and it’s moving through you and just have to get it down. So, I don’t know what genre of music I will be fitting into, but I do really love writing songs.”

'Off-Kilter' was recorded and produced at Dreamhouse Studios in Nanaimo with local producer Aaron James. Churcher said it was a fun process to create the music video, which is available online at youtube.com/watch?v=G5Tg304GTkg.

She divides her time between Nanoose Bay and Portugal, where she will travel this summer.
