This spring, The Village Voices of Qualicum Beach will invite youth to perform with them as they present 'Thank You for the Music — Youth Infusion' under the artistic direction of Patricia Plumley.
Plumley enjoys working with singers of all ages and inspires them with her own youthful enthusiasm. She looks forward to welcoming young singers, brass players, pianists and speech arts students to the stage with The Village Voices on April 26, according to a news release.
"Patricia brings a wealth of experience to her work with young people," the release said. "She has instructed youth ballet, worked with the British Columbia Boys Choir, KidsSing Inner City Chorus and currently directs the Vancouver Island Symphony Noteworthy Kids Choir."
She teaches youth at the West Coast Amateur Musicians Society Summer Camp and in Nanoose, she works year-round with her private piano and voice students, focusing on their shared love of classical music and musical theatre.
"With her unique style of choral direction and quick sense of humour, Patricia balances fun and fine points of musical detail with refinement of sound to produce moving choral music for all to enjoy," the release said.
Plumley believes that creating a friendly, supportive learning environment is paramount to helping students and choristers of all ages develop their talent, pleasure of music and foster the joy we all find in sharing musical gifts.
The community is invited to join the Village Voices and company for an afternoon of choral music at the Christian Fellowship Centre (825 Village Way) in Qualicum Beach.
The concert starts at 2:30 p.m. Admission at the door, with a suggested donation of $20 (cash only).
Children under 12 years old will be admitted for free. There will be door prizes and raffle draw.
