BC Transit will expand three routes in the West Kootenay next year.
The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure announced August 21 that it would make investments to add service and stops to routes in the West Kootenay. The service changes start in January.
"Our communities are growing and need public transit systems that are reliable and affordable," said Transportation Minister Rob Fleming in a statement. "We have seen that when people have access to an extensive transit system, they use it. This investment ensures that our transit systems can continue to deliver unparalleled services to the people who need it."
Route 98, which travels between Trail and Castlegar, will have two additional weekday round trips added.
The Route 53 bus that runs from Edgewood to Nakusp will have more time added for what the ministry says will provide better on-time services.
Route 52 meanwhile, which runs between Nakusp and Slocan, will have a new stop at the New Denver Health Centre.
Management of Routes 52 and 53 was taken over by the City of Nelson earlier this year.
