Everything is big in Texas including the sound of Texas-based rock singer Mark Winters, who Longevity John has slated to play the Showroom stage on May 1 at 7 p.m. Winters is many things including a witty poet, passionate musician, entrepreneur, an optimistic family man, and a bona-fide rocket scientist. On May 2 at 5 p.m. come support the students of Adagé as they leave it all out the the Showroom stage with their 'Student Rock Showcase' which blends both talent and teamwork. Entry is by donation.
Stick around or come back through for some 'Sober Karaoke' at 6:30 p.m., proving that you don't need liquid courage to sing your heart out.

Young emerging folk singer Kyle Goski, who was booked for last year's 39 Days and is slotted to be back again this year, hits the stage at the Showroom on May 3 at 7:30 p.m. He will be accompanied by David and Barbara Denz. Tickets for this evening out are $20.

On May 4, come out to enjoy 'Songwriters in the Round' with Shaela Miller, Kacy Anderson, and Micah Erenberg. Miller makes the contrasting styles of country and new wave collide in dazzling fashion, while Anderson of duo Kacy and Clayton delivers a timeless amalgamation of British folk rock, classic American country, with a hint of cross-cultural traditional songs and slightly faded psychedelia. Completing the talented trifecta is Erenberg of The Secret Beach blending elements of folk, indie rock, and Americana with authentic lyrics that reflect on everyday life. Taking the stage at 7:30 p.m., tickets are $25.

On May 5 at 7:30 p.m., get on track to board the soul train with Calgary soul music duo Sargeant X Comrade consisting of vocalist Yolanda Sargeant and producer Evgeniy "Comrade" Bykovets. The pair formed in the early 2010s, and had music lovers dialed into the sounds of their debut full-length album titled Magic Radio, which was a long-listed nominee for the 2021 Polaris Music Prize. Get in the groove with this talented twosome for $25.

On May 6, tune in to the Eugene and Billy show at 5:30 p.m. with hosts Eugene Smith and Bill Levity as this dynamic duo provide great music and stage banter, along with interviews and music from their invited guests. Admission is by donation to be a part of the Showroom’s live studio audience. The boys return to the stage on May 20.

Stick around for the Showroom's 'Dress Rehearsal Tuesday', also known as their open mic night, which gets underway at 7:30 p.m. It’s a great chance for newcomers to get their feet wet, or for past performers to bring new material to the stage. On May 7, get your folk on with aging troubadour James Gordon who some may remember as a regular on the Arthur Black show on CBC radio back in the day. From Guelph, Ont. he's stopping in the Valley while on his western Canada tour via Via Rail. Tickets are $30.

Chances are you've never seen a flying snail. So the name of David Wilkie's band should be enough to intrigue you into the Showroom on May 8. Some may remember Wilkie from his time with the rock trio Moxie, and the musicians in Flying Snail have been playing together off and on for nearly three decades as members of the western Canadian group Cowboy Celtic.
The Flying Snails consist of Wilkie on mandolin, Denise Withnell on guitar, Keri Lynn Zwicker on Celtic harp, Nathan McCavana on Bodhran, and Tami Cooper on flute, penny whistles and recorder with everyone sharing in vocals. The good times start rolling at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $25.

On May 15 at 7:30 p.m., get in line with the Laws as Ontario couple John and Michele Law return to the Showroom to captivate audiences with their heartfelt songwriting, and engaging stage presence. The Laws, who have been crafting distinctive Americana and bluegrass music since the early 2000s, first gained international recognition by winning the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at Merlefest while securing a Nashville songwriting deal. They now have six albums credits tucked under their guitar strap and have performed across Canada, the United States, and Australia, and have even earned media features on PBS, CMT, and ET Canada. Tickets are $25.

Jazz up your Saturday on May 17 at 7:30 p.m., with the soulful soulful sounds of acclaimed instrumentalist Adam Dobres whose music spans finger-style, gypsy jazz, Celtic, and other world influences. Dobres has a CFMA and WCMA nominated album, and a global touring resume. Tickets are $25.

Luck will be shining down on music lovers on May 23, as Longevity John presents Luck By Chance for their second full length album featuring 12 songs.This synth, fast-paced indie rock duo are based in the Cowichan Valley. Admission is $20 which includes a CD/digital download link to their new album.

On May 24 2 p.m., come watch students become musical masters as Long and McQuade brings their student recital to the Showroom stage. Students will get a chance to strut their stuff and have their performance uploaded to YouTube for the friends, and relatives who can't make it down to Duncan. Juniors take the stage at 2 p.m., followed by the seniors at 3 p.m. Admission is by donation.
Come back through for 7:30 p.m., to enjoy some great music with James Meyer and help send him to Sicily to sing and compete with his university. He will be bringing the sounds of choral, barbershop, and rock and roll to the stage for the James Meyer Flight fundraiser. Tickets are $25.

On May 27, at 7:30 p.m., go with the FLOW as Bill Levity hosts For the Love of Words. FLOW is monthly invitation for writers, poets, and other creatives who likes to pen original works to brave the stage and read them aloud. This is FLOW's 17th year of celebrating the wonder of words.
