It sounds like summer as concert series begins in Nanaimo's Old City Quarter

Sounds of Summer consists of nine free lunchtime concerts during July and August

Notes rang out on Wesley Street in Nanaimo’s Old City Quarter when A Cappella Plus performed as the opening act for this year’s Sounds of Summer free concert series.

The series got underway Friday, July 4, at Wesley Square.

The choral concert was part of a lineup of nine one-hour lunchtime performances by local talent – including James Vickers and Carson Maertz, Joel Lee Band, Joshua Gellman Band, Sol Aravena Soft Latin Ensemble, Dave Teichroeb, B’Boon, John Gogo and Doc Fingers – scheduled every Friday from noon to 1 p.m. in the Old City Quarter. The concerts are at Wesley Square during July, and the series then move to the Heritage Mews throughout August.

The next performance is Friday, July 11, when James Vickers and Carson Maertz play Wesley Square at noon.
