A 58-year-old man was arrested in Barriere Wednesday, Jan. 24 after he barricaded himself in his residence on Creekside Road.
Due to the high-risk posed by the individual, who was the subject of several outstanding warrants for assault, the Barriere RCMP, along with the Southeast District Emergency Response Team (SED ERT) responded, said Cpl. James Grandy, Southeast district advisory NCO media relations in a new release.
“After attempts were made to have the suspect exit his home on his own were unsuccessful, SED ERT utilized various tactics to safely arrest him,” Grandy noted, adding the suspect was arrested without incident, with no risk posed to the public.
The suspect remains in custody awaiting a court appearance.
Grandy said as the file remains an active investigation, no further details will be released at this time.
