After being without food, water or gas for two days, two people stranded in the backcountry just west of McLure were rescued by Barriere RCMP earlier this month.

Cpl. Kyle Camalush of the Barriere RCMP said Mounties received a call from the two people on Sat. Jan. 6. The pair were stranded roughly 15 km northeast of Badger Lake.

Camalush said they had been stranded since Thurs. Jan. 4.

A Barriere RCMP officer drove to the 11 km mark and worked with a local resident who had a snowmobile to rescue the two individuals.

Camalush said the officer transported the individuals to the ambulance that was staged close by where they were then taken to hospital.
