Castlegar skaters shine bright at regional competition

Three local skaters attended the West Kootenay Invitational

Three Castlegar skaters attended the West Kootenay Invitational last weekend, alongside coaches Rachel Stewart and Candice Soukeroff.

The event took place in Fruitvale, hosted by the Beaver Valley Skating Club and was a huge success, uniting skaters from across the Kootenay Region and even the Okanagan.

The competition was preceded by a high test evaluation on Friday morning, where Payton Fowler earned her Gold Feet in Artistic. This is the highest level of recognition for a discipline that a skater can achieve.

There were so many talented skaters, and the Castlegar Skating Club is proud to announce that all three of their skaters brought home well-deserved medals for their outstanding performances.

Emmie Nicol won Silver in STAR 4 (13+) Freeskate, Payton Fowler was awarded Bronze in STAR 10/Gold Dance, and Anaya Molitwenik placed Bronze in both STAR 6 and STAR 7 Freeskate.

Thank you to the Beaver Valley Skating Club, the Beaver Valley Arena staff, the many volunteers, Blade Runner, and Hayley Clemans-Gibbon, realtor at Century 21.
