A West Shore RCMP officer has been awarded a King Charles III Coronation Medal.
While he is known for his “dedication and commitment to public safety” in his role as a front-line officer, Const. Rob Renner was also recognized for his time with the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF).
Before joining the RCMP in 2020, Renner served 14 years with the CAF, earning a Long Service Medal.
During his time with CAF, he was deployed in 2017 to the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt. He also pursued his further education while with CAF, becoming a registered nurse. After completing his education, he served on a humanitarian mission in Haiti.
Renner was presented his King Charles III Coronation Medal by Vancouver Island District Commander, Chief Supt. Bruce Singer during a ceremony on March 20 at the North Cowichan/Duncan detachment.
The coronation medal is an award given to individuals who have made a significant contribution to Canada.
Also recently awarded a coronation medal was Brad Aschenbrenner, the husband of West Shore RCMP officer Sarah Beckett, who was killed in the line of duty in 2016.
Given his medal at a special ceremony at Langford City Hall, Aschenbrenner was recognized for his youth advocacy work with the BGC South Vancouver Island – formerly Boys and Girls Club of Greater Victoria – and his organization of the Sarah Beckett Memorial Run.
The 2025 Sarah Beckett Memorial Run, which has raised more than $100,000 since 2019, is set to take place on May 11 at Starlight Stadium.
