Penticton's Discovery House is returning to Skaha Lake Park for its annual Father's Day event, raising funds and offering family fun.
The main highlight of the afternoon, the dunk tank, is back alongside other favourites from noon until 3 p.m. on June 15.
The line-up of who is going to take a dive hasn't been announced yet, but 2024's roster included Mayor Julius Bloomfield, Chamber of Commerce President Michael Magunsson, and members of Discovery House's staff and alumni.
There will be live music, a free barbecue lunch — although donations are welcome — street hockey, family games including giant Jenga, and a kid's zone with face painting and sidewalk chalk.
There will also be raffle prizes and booths from other local community organizations.
The event is a big fundraiser for the addiction recovery program, which emphasizes its goal is returning fathers and sons to their families.
In past years, the event has raised more than $20,000 to $25,000 for the program, which goes to funding the treatment beds and Discovery House programs.
The funding from the community has helped Discovery House grow, from five beds when the fundraiser first started to 25 beds of both treatment program space and transitionary care after treatment is complete.
While the program has managed to expand in recent years, Discovery House has maintained a steady wait-list of people looking for care and treatment.
