Pemberton Holmes Easter Egg Hunt will take place April 19.

Easter: it's a time when wide-eyed kids excitedly search high and low for bright surprises – often of a sweet variety.

Luckily for Sooke, the fun can be had at festive events around the community.

The ever-popular Pemberton Homes Easter Egg Hunt will return on Saturday, April 19.

“This much-loved community event highlights the positive impact local businesses have when they invest in the places they call home,” writes district communications manager Christina Moog.

The event, from 10 a.m. to noon at John Phillips Memorial Park, features plenty of family fun such as egg hunts, face painting, colouring activities and popcorn. Egg hunt times are divided by age group: toddlers to age three at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., ages four to eight at 10:20 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., and ages nine to 12 at 10:40 a.m. and 11:40 a.m.

The Sooke Chamber of Commerce will continue the Great Sooke Egg Hunt, through Easter Weekend.

The ongoing egg hunt, which kicked off April 1 and goes through Easter Monday, April 21, supports Sooke businesses by inviting residents and visitors to explore the community in search of eggs hidden at local shops.

After spotting an egg, participants can claim a gift from the business and post a photo with their egg on social media using #SookeEggsplore and #ShopSookeFirst to be entered into a prize contest.
