Bella Coola Valley residents are invited to an Emergency Preparedness Fair Sunday, May 5 at Lobelco Hall.
The fair takes place from noon to 3 p.m. and is being presented by the Central Coast Regional District and the Nuxalk Nation Emergency Management Program.
Billed as a family-friendly event, the fair will be a valuable opportunity for individuals, families and businesses to engage with valley’s first responders and partner organizations, gaining insights into how to enhance their preparedness for emergencies and disasters, noted CCRD emergency program coordinator Jessie MacDonald in a report for the CCRD board meeting Thursday, April 25.
Attendees at the fair will be able to interact directly with agencies such as the Bella Coola and Hagensborg Volunteer Fire Departments, BC Ambulance Service, BC Parks, Bella Coola Food Shed Alliance, Emergency Management and Climate Readiness (EMCR), and BC Wildfire Service (BCWS).
“These organizations will be on site to showcase their initiatives and educate the community about their vital role in ensuring our safety,” MacDonald noted.
In addition to the fair, local businesses are invited to a special presentation on emergency preparedness and continuity planning, scheduled for Sunday, May 5, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Lobelco Hall.
“This session offers an invaluable opportunity for businesses to gain insights and resources to better prepare for and respond to emergencies, ensuring the continuity of operations during challenging times,” MacDonald said.
