West Shore RCMP attended the scene of single vehicle rollover at Millstream Lake Road in the Highlands on Dec. 30.

Wintry conditions were the cause of a single vehicle rollover crash in the Highlands, reports West Shore RCMP.

The incident occurred on Millstream Lake Road, on Dec. 30.

The driver suffered minor injuries and received treatment, said the RCMP, who ruled out speeding, alcohol and drugs as possible reasons for the crash.

"Poor weather conditions & lack of visibility along with the road character all contributed to this crash," said the RCMP in a social media post.

While emergency crews worked at the scene, the road was closed for an hour.

The crash has prompted a friendly reminder from the RCMP to drive cautiously when Island winter conditions are at play.

Police recommend:

  • Vehicles have proper winter tires;
  • Drive according to the road/weather conditions;
  • Give yourself extra time to get to your destination;
  • Be mindful of other motorists/road users.
