One of Kelowna’s most peaceful spots will be closed for a few weeks this summer.
Kasugai Gardens will temporarily shut down starting Monday, June 23 as the city begins maintenance work on the garden’s pond.
The closure is expected to last until mid-July, with crews cleaning and repairing the pond in preparation for a new filtration system coming this fall.
As part of the process, the Koi fish that call the pond home will be safely moved to temporary on-site pools. The pond will then be drained, cleaned, and inspected for leaks or damage, and any necessary fixes will be made to the pond liner.
“This work is a necessary step in preparing for the installation of a new filtration system this fall which will improve water quality and better support fish health,” the city explained in a media release.
While the gardens are closed, residents and visitors are encouraged to explore other nearby parks and green spaces.
