The Mitchell Lake wildfire east of Quesnel is now being held, according to BC Wildfire Services.

A lightning-caused blaze east of Quesnel has now lost its spark.

The Mitchell Lake wildfire is under control as of 11:30 a.m. Friday morning (July 4), according to BC Wildfire Services (BCWS). It was classified as being held at 9 p.m. Thursday night (July 3).

The fire was discovered 2.1 kilometres west of Mitchell Lake on Canada Day (Tuesday, July 1).
