A panel discussion this weekend will give locals an inside look at ways to thrive as a community amid turbulent times.
Called Let’s Talk About Tariffs, the event – organized by the Community Association of Oak Bay – will take place Saturday, April 26 at 1 p.m. at the Windsor Pavilion in Oak Bay.
“We’re hoping for a lively and informative discussion about what we can all do locally as individuals to advance our community and protect our economy in the middle of the trade war initiated by U.S. President Donald Trump,” one of the event’s organizers said in a news release.
Oak Bay-Gordon Head MLA Diana Gibson, who as provincial minister for jobs, economic development and innovation has played a role in B.C.'s tariff response, is one of three panellists slated to attend. Martin Cownden, Oak Bay Business Improvement Association president and owner of Chef on the Run, will also be there, alongside Steven Seltzer, a board member of Think Local First, an organization dedicated to championing local, independent businesses and helping consumers understand the benefits of buying local.
Attendees are invited to submit questions for the panel in advance to oakbayconnector@gmail.com or from the floor at the talk.
