Multiple firearms were seized by West Shore RCMP during an incident in Thetis Lake Regional Park.
Mounties responded Thursday evening (July 10) to reports of an individual experiencing a mental health crisis, said an RCMP news release.
"Officers learned the individual had gone into the park and was in possession of several firearms," said the release.
In response officers closed down the park and set up containment to ensure public safety.
The individual was located at approximately 10:30 p.m. and was safely apprehended under the Mental Health Act, before being taken to the hospital for further care.
RCMP have confirmed "numerous firearms" were located and seized. No one sustained any injuries in this incident.
"West Shore RCMP would like to thank partnering agencies for their quick response and assistance in this matter including View Royal Fire, Victoria and Saanich Police Departments and West Shore RCMP Police Dog Services," said a spokesperson.
