Those near Jutland Road today may have noticed a large police presence.
Victoria Police, along with the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, were called to the 1000 block of Jutland Road near Glo Restaurant and Lounge around 3:45 p.m. after a member of the public reported the appearance of a "suspicious package." The package was described as a long cardboard box, with writing and drawings on the outside, with a few wires attached to each end.
Despite concerns and the initial evacuation of several businesses, the package was determined not to be an explosive. Police stated that there is no immediate threat to the public. The area is reopened to the public.
