The VIEX has launched a raffle to work toward its long-term goal of a new multi-purpose agricultural building at the fairgrounds, and also its short-term efforts to put on another memorable fall fair this year.
According to the Vancouver Island Exhibition, raffle ticket sales will support the construction of a multi-use agricultural building at Beban Park.
"This year-round facility will promote agricultural education, community events, and local food security," noted the VIEX website. "This inclusive space will benefit farmers, youth (4-H, schools), artisans, and the wider community, supporting our mission of agricultural awareness and sustainable, year-round engagement."
The raffle will also support costs associated with putting on Nanaimo’s longest-running annual fair that showcases agriculture, local talent, family entertainment and community pride.
“We’re thrilled to bring back the 50/50 raffle as a fun way for the community to get involved and help support this beloved local event,” said VIEX office administrator Michelle Solloway in a press release. “Every ticket sold directly supports the fair, our performers, exhibitors, and the future of agriculture on Vancouver Island.”
Tickets are now being sold for $5 each at http://viex.rafflenexus.com, with a cap of 5,200 tickets to be sold. The winning ticket will be drawn Sept. 21 on the last day of the fair.
