New townhomes proposed for Burne Ave., Lester Rd. in Kelowna

Both projects have yet to be presented to city council

Housing projects planned for Kelowna’s Burne Avenue and Lester Road have been submitted to city hall.

The application for 727 Burne Ave. is for a five-unit housing development and includes two, three-storey buildings.

“The goal is to create a safe, livable, and community-friendly place that fits into the surrounding neighbourhood and supports walkability, biking, and public transit,” state documents submitted by Urban Options Planning Corp.

The design focuses on street-friendly layouts, with front doors and windows facing the road or lanes to encourage interaction and safety.

Developers say the project supports the goals of the 2040 Official Community Plan including infill housing, and more housing choices, especially for families, seniors, and students.

A project planned for 350-352 Lester Rd features six, three-storey townhomes in two buildings.

They include a tandem garage, two or more vehicles are parked in a single space, one behind the other, rather than side-by-side.
