The Oak Bay Police Department is investigating after several lockers were discovered broken into on Sunday (May 25).

An underground locker area in Oak Bay faced forensic scrutiny after someone broke into the storage area in the 2200 block of Oak Bay Avenue.

Break-in damage was discovered May 25 late in the morning, when a resident discovered their storage locker disturbed and items scattered about. In all, 24 wooden storage lockers located in the underground parking level of an apartment complex were broken into.

The incident was reported to building management, who called police.

Officers attended the scene and found that the storage room had been accessed using a key, and multiple locker latches had been pried open, Oak Bay police said in its weekly news release.

Despite the damage, the locks remained intact.

Forensic Identification Services examined the area, including pry marks on the door, and several items were seized for further analysis.

The thefts were among the 69 calls for service to the Oak Bay police the week of May 19 to 25.
