Hop to Vine Hustle invites libations lovers to the event on July 5.

Locals and tourists alike will raise a glass to Creston’s craft scene at the third annual Hop to Vine Hustle.

On July 5, the a unique 11-kilometre fun run, hosted by the Creston Valley Libation Producers Society, will feature eight tasting stations of wine and beer, along with plenty of summer sunshine through the scenic vineyards. Whether participants choose to walk or run, they’ll enjoy pours from local producers and a community celebration to cap off the day.

Last year, the popular event drew over 300 ticket holders, with 45 per cent coming from outside the Creston Valley.

“We want to show people from out of town that Creston’s not just this little sleepy town," said Lisa Wood, co-owner of Wild North Brewing and Hop to Vine Hustle director. "We have a lot to offer.”

Starting at 10 a.m. to beat the summer heat, the race kicks off from Millennium Park with tasting stations of Columbia Brewery, Wild North Brewing, Sternwheeler Craft Distillery, as well as the Skimmerhorn, Baillie-Grohman, Red Bird, and William Tell estate wineries. Participants who conquer the route’s steepest incline will be rewarded with a sangria hydration station.

The day isn’t about competition — most participants walk the route, and the event is untimed. Those who finish will receive a commemorative glass and picnic lunch at the after-party starting at 12 p.m. in Millennium Park.

Runners are encouraged to dress up for the costume contest, with prizes awarded in multiple categories. The post-race celebration will feature food trucks, tasting booths, massage therapists, and live music by DJ Bri Dog, DJ Anyaq, and Elevation Gain.

“It’s just lighthearted fun,” said Wood. “It's an event to celebrate community, being outside, and staying active. Definitely something not to miss.”
