The highway between Quesnel and Prince George is open, once again.

Highway 97 had been closed as of Tuesday morning (Jan. 16) due to a collision. Two motorists have been taken to hospital.

DriveBC noted the incident was near Olson Road about 25 km south of Hixon and crews were active at the scene.

“At approximately 6:13 a.m., the Quesnel RCMP responded to a report of a head-on collision involving two pickup trucks on Highway 97 near Cinema. Two men have been transported to hospital with serious injuries,” said Quesnel RCMP’s Sgt. Clay Kronebusch.

Motorists were told to expect delays as there was no detour available.

Road conditions are poor due to the recent snow fall, said Kronebusch. We want to remind people to use caution and slow down when driving in winter road condition.

The area is under a snowfall warning Tuesday with 10 to 20 cm of snow expected in the next 24 hours.
