A motor vehicle incident west of Williams Lake knocked out power to most BC Hydro customers in the Chilcotin Wednesday, May 29.
In all, 1,287 customers were without power from 10 a.m. until the power was restored at 7:30 p.m.
Dawson Road Maintenance noted Highway 20 was closed between Stack Valley Road and the Riske Creek Transfer station due to a downed power line.
Witnesses said a waste disposal truck was coming out of the Riske Creek transfer station left a lid left open which caught on the lines above, breaking a power pole.
Highway 20 reopened Wednesday afternoon to single lane traffic, said DriveBC, and was cleared completely by 7:30 p.m.
