Victoria police seek witnesses and video of suspected Johnson Street arson

The suspected arson happened on April 24 and police have shared surveillance video images

VicPD officers are seeking witnesses and video footage following a suspected arson on April 24 in the downtown core on Johnson Street.

Shortly after 4:15 a.m., officers were called to assist the Victoria Fire Department with a vehicle fire, involving a black GMC Sierra in the 1000-block of Johnson Street.

Anyone who was in the 1000-block of Johnson Street or the 1400-block of Vancouver Street between 4 and 4:30 a.m. on April 24 and has cellphone video, dash camera footage or security camera footage, including from their home or workplace, is asked to call the E-Comm Report Desk at 250-995-7654, extension 1, and reference file number 25-14635.

VicPD has shared surveillance video images to ask the public to help identify possible witnesses.

Two possible witnesses walked west on Johnson past the vehicle and suspect before the fire started, and one possible witness walked north on Vancouver Street after the fire.
