While West Shore youth and families will be out enjoying the community parks this summer, so will their local RCMP.
West Shore RCMP and the Indigenous Policing Unit are connecting with the community through the return of their community parks program this July and August. For the next two months, you may be able to spot officers handing out freezies, stickers, RCMP swag and engaging in fun games at many local parks.
Officers will be at the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre skate park every Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and rotate through other local parks on Thursdays at the same time.
"Community members are encouraged to drop by, say hello and join in the summer fun," said West Shore RCMP's media relations unit in a news release.
West Shore RCMP will make the appearances at the following parks on Thursdays throughout July and August: Wishart Elementary School on July 10, Twinflower Park on July 17, View Royal Park on July 24, Metchosin Elementary School on July 31, Willway Elementary School on Aug. 7, John Stubbs Memorial School on Aug. 14, and Centennial Park on Aug. 21.
