The J.L. Jackson Tier 1 Junior Girls basketball team hosts Junior Girls Valley Championships this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 14 and 15, 2025.

J.L. Jackson's Junior Girls Jays Basketball team is aiming for another championship win this weekend.

The team's been having a banner season and is set to host the Junior Girls Valley Championships this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 14 and 15.

Last week, Jackson's Jr. Girls team pulled off a repeat of its 2023-24 season, beating Vernon Secondary (65-27 this time) to win the North Zone Championships – and the opportunity to host the Valleys. Prior to this game, the Jays came in third at the GW Graham Tournament in Vancouver, where they competed against some of the highest ranked teams in the province. The Salmon Arm squad finished with 44-34 win against RE Mountain, and players Keira Cadden and Reese Major being named as first team all-stars.

Jays coach Kira Limber said the team has a 22-2 record this season.

"Our team is undefeated against teams in our Valley and are currently ranked 7th in the Province!" said Limber.

The Jackson team is scheduled to hit the court at 10 a.m. this Friday and again at 7 p.m. If the Jays win, the team will play again at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15. The top three teams qualify for the Junior Girls Provincials, taking place next weekend in Chilliwack.
