On Saturday, May 10, the Salmon Arm Yeti Rugby Club kicked off their senior season with a home opener at the JL Jackson Secondary field, taking on the Penticton Harlequins in both the men’s and women’s matches.
The Yeti men’s team opened the day with a strong showing, fielding a dynamic mix of returning veterans, new club recruits and first-time rugby players.
“Right from the first whistle they played with intensity as a team,” said Yeti Men’s coach, Aaron Soley in a Yeti media release.
With powerful tackles, fluid ball movement, and excellent team cohesion, the Yeti men powered their way to an impressive 56–5 victory.
Following the men’s success, the Yeti women took the field and delivered an equally dominant performance. Combining speed on the attack with relentless defensive pressure, the women’s team overwhelmed the Harlequins, securing a commanding win.
The club is thrilled to be back in action and is even more excited to announce Salmon Arm will host the 2025 BC Rugby Saratoga Cup at the Little Mountain Field House Aug. 9 and 10.
"More than 500 players, coaches and spectators will be in attendance each day from all over B.C. and the Yeti Rugby Club is looking forward to giving them a warm Salmon Arm welcome," said the Yeti.
More details about the tournament and related community events will be shared in the coming weeks on the Yeti Rugby Facebook and Instagram pages.
