Emergency responders responded to a fiery collision on Highway 97 near 70 Mile House.

The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2 south of the 70 Mile Forest Service Road and involves a large commercial truck and one other vehicle. 100 Mile Fire Rescue and the 70 Mile Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.

Highway 97’s Northbound Lane was closed near Cunnigham Road as emergency crews responded to the scene.

No word at this time on the extent of any injuries.

This incident came after another MVI earlier Thursday morning near Lac La Hache that left on logging truck on fire. Highway 97 was reduced to one lane of alternating traffic near that accident scene for several hours.

Freezing rain and snow made driving challenging across the Interior Thursday morning. The freezing rain is expected to turn to rain as temperatures warm.
