Vernon soccer team 'Attacks' Nakusp tournament, wins gold

The Vernon Christian Royals won the Attack the Nak high school soccer tournament in Nakusp.

The Vernon Christian Royals girls soccer team were feeling quite royal in early May.

The junior high squad emerged victorious in the Attack the Nak tournament in Nakusp over the May 2-3 weekend, defeating Kootenay River Secondary in the final, 3-0.

Playing the host Nakusp Cougars in their opener, the Royals won 2-1 in a shootout, before a blanking of South Okanagan Hornets from Oliver, 1-0 in game two advanced them to the final.

The senior Royals team is currently competing at the Okanagan Valleys tournament at home at Marshall Fields.

After opening day wins against Clearwater and Brockhurst, the Royals faced the Aberdeen Hall Gryphons from Kelowna on Thursday.
