Vancouver Island teen battling cancer made honourary member of biker club

A teenager from Campbell River, who is battling a rare type of cancer, got an unexpected and unique surprise on Sunday afternoon (June 29).

About 150 motorcyclists set off to Ruby Park to celebrate the strength and resilience of Joline Robertson. The 18-year-old has been battling epithelioid sarcoma since she was 13.

Robertson and her family, including her mother, Jo-Anne, and father, Brian, were sitting with their daughter in the shade of a tree at the park when the motorcyclists pulled up, completely surprising the teen. She's always dreamed of hitting the road and experiencing the freedom that comes with riding a motorcycle.

Sam Singh, Eagle Riders of Campbell River president, knelt next to Robertson and her family and told her that she was being made an honourary member of their club.

"We want to scoop you up before another motorcycle group comes along and grabs you because that's what we want: people that are hard and can take it and don't give up," Singh told Robertson.
