The truck logging road on the way to Sproat Lake Sawmill was located at the end of Stirling Arm in the 1930s to 1940s. This historical photo was taken from the top of Stirling Arm with forested area surrounding the logging road.

The president of Sproat Lake Sawmill in the 1930s was F.C. Mannings. Rail lines, buildings and stacks of lumber once lined the shore of Sproat Lake, when it was used as a roadway rather than a place for water recreation as it is today.
