It was a memorable night of medals for Abbotsford's Amanat Harry, who received not just one but two honours for her role in the 861 Silverfox Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron.
Harry, who is the Chief Squadron Commander, has been a mainstay of the Abbotsford air cadets for several years and was recently the recipient of the highest honour a cadet can receive in recognition of physical and military training.
The Lord Strathcona Medal is given out to a maximum of one cadet per squadron each year for exemplary performance in physical and military training, with Harry being the latest Abbotsford cadet to obtain this medal and its corresponding certificate of merit.
She was given this honour for her role with the cadet organization, where she leads the training for approximately 200 cadets.
But this isn't the only new medal for Harry, with the Abbotsford Senior Secondary student also receiving a King Charles III Coronation Medal.
This royal medal is given out to Canadians who have made a significant contribution to a specific region or the country as a whole.
These two medals were presented to Harry at the 861 Silverfox Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron's 47th annual ceremonial review on June 14, where Mark Warkentin spoke in his role as Abbotsford's deputy mayor.
These two medals are likely just the start of Harry's future accomplishments, as the high school senior prepares to graduate and pursue a career in health sciences throughout the Bachelor of Science program at UBC, where she has already been accepted.
