Throughout British Columbia, communities like ours will be getting ready to put the spotlight on ways to enhance children’s reading skills. There are several events you won’t want to miss.
The Great Big Buddy Read encourages reading in pairs to support reading skills for all ages. (Schools, families & friends). First, register via email to Janice Kyle bcvls.calp@gmail.com to access activity sheets, which can also these be found at the library. Then set up your time with your buddy to read on Thursday, January 26. After your read please advise Janice so you can be added to the rest of the province’s numbers.
Many thanks to CBAL, Columbia Basin Alliance, for developing The Great Big Buddy Read five years ago. CBAL has also developed the activity pages for young readers.
Bella Coola Elementary School staff will be joined with many community service providers to celebrate the Family Literacy Fair on Friday, January 27, 4 to 7 p.m. and invite all to experience the interesting events. There will be some tasty treats. January 27 is also National Family Literacy Day.
