Quesnel Sea Lions see success at local swim meet

The team placed second in overall points

The local swim team held a swim meet through the first weekend of July in what Baylee McGillivray called a "great success."

On July 5-6, the Quesnel Sea Lions the other teams from the region - the Prince George Pisces, Mackenzie Rainbows, Nechako Valley Otters and the Dawson Creek Seals - to town for a weekend of competition.

In total, 44 swimmers attended and competed over the weekend, with the Sea Lions finishing second overall in total points.

Overall, the Quesnel team finished with a variety of best times and overall division aggregate medals, including the following medals:

  • Division 2 Boys: gold - Theo Stent; silver - Henry Glew; bronze - Garnet Dinsdale
  • Division 3 Girls: silver - Jemma Glew
  • Division 3 Boys: silver - Austin Petersen; bronze - Oliver Stent 
  • Division 4 Boys: gold - Reid Grady 
  • Division 5 Boys: silver - Judah Mak
  • Division 8: bronze - Baylee McGillivray 

The Sea Lions compete against the other regional teams from May 1 to Aug. 17. This year, Prince George is hosting the provincials from Aug. 15-17.
