Columbia Basin Trust (CBT) and JCI (Junior Chamber International) Kootenay are calling out all Basin residents age 30 or younger who make a meaningful difference in their communities.
The "30 Under 30" campaign will recognize 30 individuals aged 30-and-under who inspire, impact, and engage communities across the Columbia Basin.
"Whether they lead by example, create with passion, serve with heart or innovate boldly, we want to hear their story."
The campaign aligns with the CBT's 30th anniversary, and will recognize young leaders whose contributions strengthen their communities through volunteering, environmental action, education, arts and culture, entrepreneurship, civic engagement and other forms of community involvement.
“We know there are many people in this region doing extraordinary things, often without much recognition,” said Daniel Crema, chair of the 30 Under 30 Committee and JCI Kootenay board member.
“This campaign is about honouring their work, sharing their stories, and celebrating the diverse ways young people are shaping the future of the Basin.”
Nominees must be age 30 or younger as of Dec. 31, 2025, and live, work or study in the Columbia Basin.
People can nominate themselves or others and nominations are open until July 15, 2025.
“Nurturing young leaders and celebrating their contributions is an important part of building strong communities,” said Johnny Strilaeff, president and CEO, Columbia Basin Trust.
"As we mark our 30th anniversary, we’re proud to support this initiative that shines a light on young changemakers who are leading with passion and purpose.”
Nominees are not expected to meet all criteria but should stand out for their commitment and contribution to community well-being.

A panel of Basin residents will select the finalists.
The 30 selected individuals will be honoured at a formal celebration in September.
Their stories will also be shared through a regional social media campaign and a commemorative publication.
